Our Story

Voyagers from near and far came into the city and brought many new flavours and ingredients to Liverpool.

Our menu is a make-up of these dishes and flavours which are used in tasteful but innovative ways that people understand. We create national and global favourites that everyone knows and loves that are heartwarming with an innovative twist. Our small and large plates are perfect for sharing, inspired by the different cultures that this city brings together.

We create a relaxed environment, somewhere people can pop in and out of at any time. Come early doors for the best coffee in the city, an afternoon snack, a glass of wine, a spin on a classic cocktail or dock at the restaurant for dinner with delicacies which make you want to stay for longer.

We have teamed up with local food producers, breweries, distilleries and roasters to bring you Liverpool’s and the North West’s best Ingredients, Gin, Rum, Beer, Coffee, Tea and Natural wines. We have developed a long wine list and signature cocktails which are innovative and link to our story, offering an extensive low & no list. We have also teamed up with local natural wine merchants to bring you something different. We will be offering one-off events and workshops with these partnerships.

Just like our merchants, our sailors and our boatmen once did, we invite you to the Ropewalks, for a short sail around the world a place that is inspired by the different cultures that bring our city together. Global flavours, with local influence, but most importantly a contemporary relaxed neighbourhood destination.

A Voyager’s
Dream of Land

Our name comes from the poem ‘A Voyager’s Dream of Land’ by Felicia Dorothea Hemans, born in our very city and our very street at 118 Duke Street. She published her first collection, Poems (1808), at the age of 14. The poem relates to the sentiment of many sailors that passed through our city as well as the history of our location.
